Eco-friendly permeable paved access road and car parking area to cater for a person with a muscular disability.
We were invited to replace an uneven and potentially unsafe access road and parking area at a house situated on the edge of the beautiful North York Moors National Park.
The owners had been looking for some time for a suitable, cost-effective solution which fulfilled their requirements, and also fitted in with the local environment.
Following a visit to our stand at the Malvern Spring Show and a visit to Cleveland by one of our team, we quoted to install our versatile and eco-friendly paving system, Enviropave, made out of 100% recycled plastics.
One of the clients suffers from a muscular disease which sadly inhibits his mobility. It was therefore essential that we laid a level, slip-resistant, porous and long-lasting surface, which would minimise any risk to him walking on the surface, while at the same time provide an extremely durable base for vehicles of all shapes and sizes – from wheelchairs to the lorries which delivered the stone in 20 ton loads.
It also had to be pet-friendly.
In addition, while we were carrying out the project we had to minimise the adverse impact on a holiday let which forms part of the property.
The result is a pleasing stone finish to a level, porous, stable, long-lasting eco-friendly paving system which should serve our clients well for more than 30 years.

We moved into a new property 12 months ago, which had a driveway and large parking area that was roughly graveled and uneven. Due to a muscle problem it was becoming increasingly difficult for me to walk safely on, and it could be difficult to get out of the car. We had already had a frighteningly high quote from a porous resin bound aggregate company, which was unaffordable. We had booked to go to the RHS Malvern Spring Show and saw Sustainable Parking Surfaces had a stand, so we went along to have a look and met with them. They showed us enviropave, which seemed ideal for our needs and followed this up by a personal visit all the way from the South West to measure up and give us an estimate. For over twice the area the quote was less than two-thirds of the previous one (and included VAT) so we went ahead. We agreed a start date and likely schedule and worked this around ourselves, and our guests, in our attached holiday cottage to have ongoing access. They arrived with a small team who got to work immediately. They used local materials when possible and local stone. The work was completed to an excellent standard with minimal disruption and 2 days quicker than originally estimated. The difference is huge and we love it. I cannot recommend both the enviropave and the company Sustainable Parking Surfaces highly enough and have already recommended them to several friends. As sold, even in heavy rain the drainage is excellent and the enviropave stops the stones moving around. It also easily took the weight of a 20 ton + lorry. If you are looking for a solution to covering your parking area/driveway etc give them a call and I think you’ll be impressed with the price, but even more so when you go ahead and it’s all completed.
